WE TOOK THE MERCEDES TO THE 1/4 MILE DRAGSTRIP IN BRADENTON. THINGS DIDN'T

EXACTLY GO AS PLANNED. AFTER DRIVING 400 MILES TO THE TRACK, I PULLED INTO THE

STAGING LANES. I DID A PRETTY GOOD LITTLE BURNOUT AND STAGED. I HAD TO PRACTICALLY

STAND ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO KEEP THE CAR FROM ROLLING FORWARD AS I STALLED THE

ENGINE AS HIGH AS I COULD. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I NAILED IT. I WAS AMAZED AT

HOW HARD THE CAR PULLED OFF OF THE LINE. YOU ARE SAYING, "YEAH RIGHT HOW HARD

COULD THIS 4600LB LUXURY CAR PULL?" WELL, ON BFG DRAG RADIALS I PULLED A 1.628 60'!!!

UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER THAT, THE CAR FELL ON IT'S FACE. I STILL MANAGED TO GET AN

11.757 OUT OF IT, BUT THAT WAS AT A PITIFUL 113.8MPH. WE CALLED RENNTECH AND THEY

SAID THAT THE CAR SHOULD TRAP BETWEEN 118-121MPH. HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT ANOTHER

GUY WITH THE SAME SETUP RAN AN 11.4ET WITH A 1.68 60FT. WE ARE GOING TO SEND THE CAR

TO RENNTECH TO FIND THE MISSING POWER. I AM CONFIDENT, WITH THE CAR RUNNING RIGHT,

WE WILL BE ABLE TO GET AN 11.3ET OUT OF THIS GROCERY GETTER... NOT BAD.

 

UPDATE(5-14-05) WE FOUND OUT THAT THE AIR TO WATER INTERCOOLER HAD SOME AIR IN THE

SYSTEM. THAT IS NOW RESOLVED. WE ARE PLANNING TO RUN THE CAR AGAIN AT THE V-10

NATIONALS IN DECEMBER. I THINK WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET A LOW 11 SECOND PASS

OUT OF THE CAR. STAY TUNED...
